Sport Fishing Boats:
During this type of charter, you will be getting a larger sport fishing vessel (34’ to 54’) that will focus their attention to the Reef and deeper waters of the Atlantic Ocean. These vessels will target Snapper and Groupers on the reef, to the larger pelagic species of the Atlantic Ocean Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Swordfish, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, and everything in between. The main advantage of these boats are the cabins, taller towers, and have more "creature comforts”. During your Islamorada fishing adventure, you will generally get an air-conditioned vessel, with some kind of enclosure to get out of the elements. These boats are the most expensive charters that are available in the area. All of these boats carry a mate.

Center Console/ Light Tackle Boats:
Center Console fishing is extremely popular in the Florida Keys. These boats are perfect to get you to and from the fishing grounds in a hurry, with a full boat length to fish from. These boats will target everything that a larger Sport fishing boat will target, plus will have the ability to get you into the Florida Bay and Gulf of Mexico. Most have a generous T-top to get out of the sun, and several have a “head” or a bathroom to use as well. These boats are generally more “hands-on” than the larger boats, as most do not have mates.

Bay Boats:
These boats are very versatile, and accomplish a good middle of the road type of shallow water fishing. Most guides in the area that fish these vessels operate between the deeper backcountry flats, bay and Gulf, and the patch reefs. The majority of these Captains will focus on Tarpon, Trout, Sharks, Redfish, Snook, Permit, Snappers, Cobia's, Mackerel, and Goliath Groupers. These boats range from 19’ to 24’, and will generally carry up to 4 people. These vessels generally do not have any enclosures to get out of the sun, and don’t have a bathroom.

Flats and Backcountry Boats:
This type of boat will focus on the shallow waters or "Back Country" of the Florida Everglades and the Florida Bay. With this type of fishing you will be able to catch Bonefish, Tarpon, Snook, Permit, sharks, Snappers, trout, Redfish, and Black Drum. Basically, anything that will swim in the shallow waters of the backcountry you can target from these boats on your Islamorada fishing trip. These boats generally range from 15’ to 20’, and a lot of these boats will float in less than 10 inches of water and are very “stealth like”. These boats generally have no protection from the sun, and no bathroom.
