Islamorada Fishing Weekly Report & Fo...

Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s report!  This week has been sort of weird as the ocean is creating a perfect condition for Sailfishing, with smoking current to the NE and clean blue water.   It is the recipe we look for when targeting these guys, but they seem to be lacking in the quantity that we normally see this time of year.  There have been a few caught here and there, but nothing like what we normally see.  There are fish above us, and it is obvious that there is a gap in the fish, or they are pushing out deeper, but it is definitely a little strange….more like irritating!  It will pass, and everything will get back to normal very s ...

Islamorada Fishing Weekly Report & Fo...

Snappers are definitely starting to become lethargic with the cooler water temperatures.  I would suspect with the chill off this week, they are really going to get lock jaw.  The wind is supposed to calm down for the weekend, so it should be beautiful!  It will be a little cool, but should be really nice offshore.  If I were going to fish the reef, I would focus on the shallow 20 to 25 foot patches and target Muttons, Groupers, Mangroves, Porgies, and Cero Mackerels.  This will be your best bet for great table fare.  If you want to try your luck on the offshore side, The Sails and Kings should be abiding by the rules, so it should work out for everyone.

The fishing this week has been pretty good, but a bit windy to say the least.  We had a couple days of good Sailfishing, and there have been some Dolphin and Tunas around to keep the bite going.  The best of the Sailfishing has been on current edges, not unusual, but very defined areas where the weed has been lined up well.  If you can find a nice edge, you will get some bites.  The Gulfstream current was in really close for a few days creating some great conditions.  We would like to see the water clean up a bit, but we will take what we can get.  The reef remains pretty solid even after the water temperatures dropped to the low 70’s.  The Yellowtail ...

Fishing has been great this past week, as the weather had calmed a bit, and the fish were chewing!  We had some really great trips catching lots of Mutton Snappers and some really nice Groupers on the wrecks, as well as some Yellowtail Snappers and Mackerels on the reef!  In addition, we even caught a couple Sailfish, Tunas, and some Mahi-Mahi.  It was a lot of fun for all of us, and made some great new friends!  The weather is changing this week, as the front has just pushed through and the temperatures are dropping quickly.  This is going to “mix” it up a bit, but should be the recipe for some great fishing to come.  The wind is going to be blowing ...
